UQ Summer and Winter Research Program

Engage in a 6-week research experience through the UQ Summer/Winter Research Program.

Participate in research-related activities for your selected project under the guidance of UQ’s leading academics and researchers. Apply your degree-specific knowledge while developing valuable research and professional capabilities.

This work experience opportunity runs for 6 weeks during the Summer Inter-Semester recess (January–February) and you'll receive a grant for participation in the program. You can also count your participation towards attainment of the UQ Employability Award.

Eligibility

In addition to the eligibility criteria outlined in the UQ Summer Research Student Guidelines, the Faculty of Science has additional eligibility criteria. You must:

• be enrolled in an undergraduate program and have completed a minimum of 16 units (one-year of full-time study) at the time of application (credit will be considered as units completed towards your program); or

• be enrolled in a postgraduate program relevant to your nominated project (it is not essential for you to have completed any courses towards your program at the time of application however, if this is the case, you must have completed an undergraduate degree relevant to your nominated project); and

• not have participated in the Summer Research Program previously with any Faculty.

Selection process

• Project supervisors will determine successful recipients, with oversight from the Associate Dean (Academic).

• When selecting successful applicants, supervisors will consider eligibility, academic merit, reasons for wanting to participate (which you provide via your personal statement during the application process) and suitability of your capabilities and attributes to the project.
